THE Surfers Paradise Festival draws to a close this weekend with a final fling for foodies and funseekers. Sunday’s A la Carte in the Park event will see fine food and wine accompany a concert of jazz, swing and opera to close the festival. Guests can roll out a blanket as they enjoy live music from David De Vito, Aaron West Band, Liam Burrows (pictured), Laura Mitchell Quartet, Ingrid James and Royal Australian Navy Band. Jazz singer Burrows, 18, may be small in stature but he is gigantic in talent and is expected to be one of the star attractions. Surfers Paradise chefs will provide cooking demonstrations to simplify gourmet cooking. A fireworks display over the Nerang River will bring Surfers Paradise Festival to a close.

A la Carte in the Park plays Lionel Perry Park, Peninsular Drive, Surfers Paradise, on Sunday, from noon to 6pm. Tickets are $10 and free for seniors, students and under-18s.
