MAY the fourth be with you on Satur­day when Star Wars Bur­lesque: The Em­pire Strips Back! lands on the Glit­ter Strip. Based on Ge­orge Lu­cas’s orig­i­nal Star Wars tril­ogy, the bur­lesque show fea­tures a danc­ing Darth Vader, saucy Stormtroop­ers and a bikini-clad Boba Fett. Knowl­edge of the Force is not vi­tal for Star Wars Bur­lesque, but the show prom­ises to submerge you ‘‘in sci-fi fan­tasy of in­ter­galac­tic pro­por­tions’’. Af­ter this week­end, pro­duc­tion shuts down for six months as creative di­rec­tor Rus­sall Beat­tie and team redo cos­tumes from scratch, adding new props and acts. Fans around the world cel­e­brate Star Wars Day on May 4 each year. Dis­ney theme parks in the US have pro­grammed a day of Star Wars- re­lated ac­tiv­i­ties. Closer to home, more than 120 Star Wars char­ac­ters de­scend on Dream­world on Satur­day and Sun­day as a fundraiser for the Starlight Foun­da­tion.
