Wolf man keeps it moving along
WOLFMOTHER frontman Andrew Stockdale (pictured, below) has announced a first solo tour and details of his upcoming album, Keep Moving. Stockdale will embark on a 14-date national tour after putting his Grammywinning band to rest at their final show supporting Aerosmith in Melbourne. He released debut single Long Way To Go as part of a 4-track EP, Keep Moving, with a brand new album of the same name due out on June 7. Keep Moving has been three years in the making and was recorded with a variety of musicians, including members of Wolfmother who will continue to perform with Stockdale. Mixed by Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, the album will be pushed out to Australia ahead of release dates in the US and the UK. ‘‘I’m really happy with it,’’ Stockdale says of the album. ‘‘Totally, absolutely, I love it. I can live with it. I’ve listened to it a thousand times.’’ Stockdale admits there was pressure to continue playing as Wolfmother, a name created 13 years ago with musicians who have since left the band. ‘‘It was a name, a brand everyone knows. But I don’t feel comfortable playing as Wolfmother,’’ Stockdale says. ‘‘When you write a song, what’s on your mind comes out, what’s in your heart and soul comes out. I’ve been getting stuff off my chest, expressing ideas and experiences that are personal to me and I don’t want to keep then applying that to the Wolfmother name.’’
Andrew Stockdale plays the Coolangatta Hotel on June 28 and The Great Northern Hotel, Byron Bay, on June 29.
