movies: The Call turns spotlight on operators .........

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - LIVE ’N’ LOUD -

An emergency operator (Halle Berry) receives a call from a kidnapped girl that draws her into a cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer. Directed by Brad Anderson ( The Machinist). They say: A surprise hit at the box office in the US. Critics were impressed by the film’s bread-and-butter suspense chops and irate at the ludicrous ending. Wesay: Despite its almost cheesy low-budget intensity, The Call is a pretty good night and an effective exercise in girlpower wish fulfillment. And the ending’s not that bad! (Report, right.) Running time 95 minutes. Pacific Fair, Australia Fair, Robina, Coolangatta, Nerang, Tweed City, Harbour Town.
