Musos side by side

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - WHAT’S ON -

SIDE SPLITTERS are a group of male musos on the Coast who have got each others’ backs. The group of 80 musicians and entertainers meet once a month for lunch to catch up and banter about the industry. Side splitters president John ‘‘Catfish’’ Purser (pictured) says if one musician falls on hard times, the rest are there to lend a helping hand. ‘‘Most musos throughout their lives hit a hard time,’’ says Catfish. ‘‘As you get older, you need help. We will chip in and pay bills if they need it.’’ Side splitters will host a fundraiser on Saturday night to boost their kitty so they can keep giving back to those who need it. Catfish & The Deejays will play live with Jon Skye Band and Catfish says there will be plenty more entertainment on offer. ‘‘It should be a great night. We are hoping to raise at least $1500.’’

The Side splitters’ fundraiser plays Broadbeach Bowls Club on Saturday night.
