Family dynasty takes final bow
JEREMY Irons’ period drama The Borgias has been cancelled. Irons earned a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of Pope Alexander VI in the Neil Jordandirected series about a 16th century Italian family dynasty. ‘‘I never thought I would make a cable series and have enjoyed every minute of it,’’ Jordan tells The Hollywood Reporter. ‘‘For a variety of reasons we won’t be doing a fourth season . . . I want to thank Showtime for their unstinting support over the last three years, and look forward to working with them in the future.’’ The forthcoming June 16 episode in the US will now serve as the series finale. The series airs in Australia on pay TV’s SoHo channel.
