JUDI Farr will play Miss Marple in an Australian touring production of Agatha Christie’s A Murder Is Announced. Michael Coppel, Louise Withers and Linda Bewick in association with Mousetrap Productions Ltd, London, made the announcement after speculation about who would land the role. Farr’s three decade-long career included an astonishing body-of-work on stage, film and TV including a role in the Channel 7 most recent hit A Place to Call Home. She is joined by James Beck ( City Homicide) as Edmund Swettenham, Carmen Duncan ( Winners and Losers) as Mrs Swettenham. Robert Grubb ( Yes, Prime Minister) as Inspector Craddock, Victoria Haralabidou ( Stuff Happens) as Mitzi and Jamie Kristian ( Underbelly: Razor) as Sergeant Mellors and Rudi Scherz. Debra Lawrance ( Home and Away) plays the lady of Little Paddocks with Nathaniel Middleton (Bell Shakespeare) as Patrick Simmons, Libby Munro ( Venus in Fur) as Phillipa Haymes, Elizabeth Nabben ( Winners and Losers) as Julia Simmons and Deidre Rubenstein ( Palace of Dreams) as Letita’s old friend Dora ‘‘Bunny’’ Bunner. This new all-Australian production follows the success of the 60th anniversary tour of The Mousetrap, which played to more than 150,000 people during its seven-month Australasian Tour. A Murder Is Announced plays Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Playhouse Theatre from December 27 to January 19. Tickets go on sale in August.
