JUDI Farr will play Miss Marple in an Aus­tralian tour­ing pro­duc­tion of Agatha Christie’s A Mur­der Is An­nounced. Michael Coppel, Louise With­ers and Linda Bewick in as­so­ci­a­tion with Mouse­trap Pro­duc­tions Ltd, Lon­don, made the an­nounce­ment af­ter spec­u­la­tion about who would land the role. Farr’s three decade-long ca­reer in­cluded an as­ton­ish­ing body-of-work on stage, film and TV in­clud­ing a role in the Chan­nel 7 most re­cent hit A Place to Call Home. She is joined by James Beck ( City Homi­cide) as Ed­mund Swet­ten­ham, Car­men Dun­can ( Win­ners and Losers) as Mrs Swet­ten­ham. Robert Grubb ( Yes, Prime Min­is­ter) as In­spec­tor Crad­dock, Vic­to­ria Har­al­abidou ( Stuff Hap­pens) as Mitzi and Jamie Kris­tian ( Un­der­belly: Ra­zor) as Sergeant Mel­lors and Rudi Scherz. De­bra Lawrance ( Home and Away) plays the lady of Lit­tle Pad­docks with Nathaniel Mid­dle­ton (Bell Shake­speare) as Pa­trick Sim­mons, Libby Munro ( Venus in Fur) as Phillipa Haymes, El­iz­a­beth Nabben ( Win­ners and Losers) as Ju­lia Sim­mons and Dei­dre Rubenstein ( Palace of Dreams) as Letita’s old friend Dora ‘‘Bunny’’ Bun­ner. This new all-Aus­tralian pro­duc­tion fol­lows the suc­cess of the 60th an­niver­sary tour of The Mouse­trap, which played to more than 150,000 peo­ple dur­ing its seven-month Aus­tralasian Tour. A Mur­der Is An­nounced plays Queens­land Per­form­ing Arts Cen­tre’s Play­house Theatre from De­cem­ber 27 to Jan­uary 19. Tick­ets go on sale in Au­gust.

AMER­ICA’S Re­duced Shake­speare Com­pany is bring­ing The Bi­ble: The Com­plete Word of God (abridged) Down Un­der. The three-man show plays five Aus­tralian cities in­clud­ing Bris­bane, at the Bris­bane Pow­er­house from Au­gust 27 to Septem­ber 1, dur­ing its six-week tour. Book at bris­banepow­er­house.org.
