Epic

In this vivid 3D animation, directed by Chris Wedge ( Ice Age), a teen girl is shrunk to tiny size and transported to a magical forest where she takes sides in a war between good and evil forest fairies. Colin Farrell, Christoph Waltz and Beyonce Knowles headline the voice cast. They say: Reviews were mostly solid, if not ecstatic, with the film’s fluid visuals largely overcoming the rote storytelling. Boxoffice results, however, were only so-so. (Report, Page 14.) Wesay: The gags are awfully stale and the same story has been rehashed and reheated since stories were told, which makes a cinema trip to Epic, with the kids in tow, hard to justify ahead of competing school holiday films. Running time 104 minutes. Screens at Pacific Fair, Robina, Coolangatta, Australia Fair, Harbour Town, Nerang, Tweed City from Monday.
