THE highly anticipated Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World, has been given the green light by TV bosses. Actor Ben Savage and actress Danielle Fishel have teamed up to reprise their roles as childhood sweethearts, now grown up with a young daughter of their own.

The comedy show has now been picked up by impressed network executives at Disney, who have ordered a full series. Production is slated to begin in Los Angeles next month.

‘‘I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favourite audience, which has always been kids,’’ says creator Michael Jacobs.

‘‘ Girl Meets World is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular.’’.

Girl Meets World stars 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard, one of the stars of Spy Kids 4 as the daughter of Savage and Fishel. It is scheduled to premiere in the US on the Disney Channel next year.
