Bak­ers take large slice of au­di­ence

CHAN­NEL 9’s first foray into re­al­ity cook­ing shows The Great Aus­tralian Bake Off has risen to the oc­ca­sion of its de­but. The show, filmed in the gar­dens of Wer­ribee Man­sion, Vic­to­ria and based on a Bri­tish for­mat, drew 1.119 mil­lion view­ers to rank No. 5 in the viewer Top 10. Nine’s The Block Sky High ranked No. 1. Chan­nel 10’s Un­der The Dome had 1.015 mil­lion, rank­ing sev­enth and Seven had Home and Away (923,000) ranked eighth. Chan­nel 7’s The Mole, re­turn­ing af­ter an eight-year break launched last Tues­day with 864,000 view­ers and has been los­ing los­ing view­ers. The lat­est episode on Tues­day, the first of three episodes for the week drew 555,000 view­ers and ranked 20th over­all. It was beaten by af­ter­noon game shows Deal Or No Deal (597,000) and Hot Seat (753,000) and may be re­spon­si­ble for lower than usual rat­ings for Win­ners & Losers, which re­turned to rank 11th for the week. Ten’s MasterChef (773,000) fin­ished 12th.
