(2009) and (2012), Mur­willum­bah Theatre Com­pany again needs peo­ple pre­pared to play an­i­mals, this time of the English coun­try­side va­ri­ety. Au­di­tions for The Wind in the Wil­lows will be held on Wed­nes­day at 7pm at the Can­vas and Ket­tle meet­ing room, next to the Mur­willum­bah Au­di­to­rium. Mur­willum­bah Theatre Com­pany has a long tra­di­tion of pro­duc­ing live theatre for young peo­ple. Th­ese pro­duc­tions are very of­ten the first ex­po­sure to live theatre that lo­cal chil­dren ex­pe­ri­ence. The play has been adapted from the well-known novel by Ken­neth Gra­ham Gra­hame. John Mor­ley has taken the well-loved char­ac­ters of Toad, Mole, Ratty and Bad­ger from The Wind in the Wil­lows and wo­ven their ex­ploits into an ex­cit­ing ad­ven­ture story for all the fam­ily. BARI­TONE Sa­muel Dun­das has won the 2013 Lady Fair­fax New York Schol­ar­ship. Dun­das, a grad­u­ate of the Melba Con­ser­va­to­rium of Mu­sic, was named the win­ner af­ter com­pet­ing against five other fi­nal­ists in a recital cer­e­mony at the Con­ser­va­to­rium of Mu­sic in Syd­ney on Sun­day. The young opera singer scored $43,000 and the much-lauded schol­ar­ship to New York, where he will study with in­ter­na­tion­ally ac­claimed vo­cal, lan­guage and move­ment coaches.

CON­GRAT­U­LA­TIONS to Bris­bane com­pany Circa, which brings its ac­claimed pro­duc­tion Wun­derkam­mer to The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast on Au­gust 9-10.
