Quinn Band, an eight­piece group hail­ing from sunny south-east Queens­land. Gui­tarist and vo­cal­ist Quinn McHugh helms the band which is fast de­vel­op­ing a rep­u­ta­tion for grooves in­spired by vin­tage reg­gae, dub, the New Zealand and Pa­cific sound, Ja­maica and folk-in­fused Aussie acous­tic reg­gae. He is joined by Lawrence Gam­bale on bass, Scott Nos­wor­thy on drums, Garry Lynch on keys, Adam Owens on sax, To­bias Carter on gui­tar, Nicky Perry on per­cus­sion and back­ing vo­cals and Fiona Wright on back­ing vo­cals. ‘‘We’re in­spired by other mu­sic, all kinds of arts, fam­ily, love, spec­tac­u­lar views, good feel­ings and more,’’ says McHugh. ‘‘Our mu­sic is iden­ti­fi­ably Aussie and is cre­ated by all of us.’’ The band’s in­flu­ences in­clude Bob Mar­ley & The Wail­ers, Ben Harper, The Red Eyes, Katchafire, The Beau­ti­ful Girls, Sub­lime, John But­ler Trio, Bernard Fan­ning and more. ‘‘We ap­peal to a wide cross-sec­tion of peo­ple. We have en­ergy, we have a good time on stage, and we de­liver good mu­sic,’’ says McHugh. Quinn Band are tour­ing a self-ti­tled EP.
