Hurt fights vampires
GUILLERMO Del Toro’s vampire novel The Strain is heading to TV with a cast headed by veteran British actor John Hurt. The Mexican director co-wrote the original book with Chuck Hogan and it spawned two sequels – The Fall and The Night Eternal. Del Toro is now transforming his books into a TV series. He has hired Hurt to tackle one of the lead roles opposite The Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin, along with Leslie Hope, Corey Stoll and Roger Cross. The sci-fi drama follows a group of scientists caught up in a viral epidemic which turns humans into vampires, and it is in development for US cable network FX.
