THE Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra hosts Inside the Orchestra, an open, two-hour rehearsal and supper at the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra Centre tonight as part of Seniors Week. The orchestra’s musicians will prepare the repertoire for the Teddy Bears Picnic concert program at the rehearsals, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Guests will be seated beside the musicians where they will be able to see the music, watch conductor Mark Turpin (pictured) from ‘‘the other side’’ and view their favourite instruments being played up close. Guests and musicians will break for supper and a chat at 8.30pm before returning to the rehearsal. Supported by the City of Gold Coast, the Teddy Bears Picnic program will include orchestral classics such as excerpts from Swan Lake, the famous William Tell Overture and the fun Tuba Toothpaste by Brisbane composer Sean O’Boyle (composer of the ABC TV’s Gardening Australia theme).
