Ac­tion/ad­ven­ture/drama set in con­tem­po­rary New York City, where or­di­nary teen Clary (Lily Collins) dis­cov­ers she is the de­scen­dant of a line of Shad­owhunters – a se­cret cadre of hal­fan­gel war­riors locked in an an­cient bat­tle to pro­tect our world from demons. Also stars Jamie Camp­bell Bower, Lena Headey and Jonathan Rhys Mey­ers. (Re­port, Page 11.) They say: Ur­ban sci-fi fan­tasy based on the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s se­ries of young adult nov­els. Set in New York in an un­der­world of vam­pires, were­wolves, war­locks, demons and an­gels, it has not sur­pris­ingly been com­pared to the Twi­light and Harry Pot­ter fran­chises. Wesay: The film’s pro­duc­ers are al­ready bank­ing on The City of Bones to be a hit. The cast will re­unite to be­gin shoot­ing the se­quel, The Mor­tal In­stru­ments: City of Ashes, in Septem­ber.
