Jeff Bridges shows new recruit Ryan Reynolds the ways of the R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department) – an afterlife police force battling to combat a rising force of nefarious corpses – in this supernatural action comedy adapted from the Dark Horse comic. Co-stars Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker. They say: Not much wit, not much innovation, some nice bits from Bridges and an overall air of underachievement. (Report, Page 12.) Wesay: Riddick, Kick-Ass 2, Elysium and White House Down all offer a stronger big-screen kick and at least hold the courage of their (not always righteous) convictions. Directed by Robert Schwentke ( Red), this is auto-pilot bland. Running time 96 minutes. Robina, Pacific Fair, Australia Fair, Coolangatta, Harbour Town, Nerang.
