Plenty on Akova’s plate
ROVING one-man-band Akova (pictured) is excited to stir his two loves – fine food and tasty tunes – into a delightful afternoon on Sunday. The local multiinstrumentalist, real name Andy Kovacic, just returned home to the Coast after a lengthy NSW tour and plans to continue travelling the country sharing his positive musical vibes. Akova says his high-energy, uplifting show is a perfect fit for Groove ’n’ Food, the annual festival of food, art, family fun and music at Burleigh Heads, Miami and Nobby Beach. ‘‘My show is up tempo and it’s an experience for the eyes, the feet and the soul,’’ he says. ‘‘There will be tribal drumming, ukulele, driving rhythms and lyrics that make you glad to be alive.’’ Akova, who switches between vocals, guitars, cajon, djembe, ankle bells, ukulele, kazoo and percussion instruments, plans to record a live EP soon.
Akova plays Groove ’n’ Food, in Chairlift Avenue, Nobby Beach, on Sunday at 12.30pm.
