Mo­tels can­cel tour Down Un­der

MARTHA Davis and The Mo­tels have post­poned their Aus­tralian and New Zealand tour cit­ing ‘‘rea­sons be­yond our con­trol’’. Davis has post­poned the 14 dates Down Un­der – in­clud­ing a Gold Coast show at Twin Towns on Novem­ber 15 – less than two months af­ter an­nounc­ing her first tour out­side of the US in six years. The singer was ex­pected to kick off the month-long tour with the lat­est in­car­na­tion of the band in New­cas­tle on Novem­ber 13, be­fore wrap­ping up in Perth on De­cem­ber 4. ‘‘We apol­o­gise from the bot­tom of our hearts for any dis­ap­point­ment this may have caused our ded­i­cated fans,’’ Davis (pic­tured) says in a state­ment on her web­site. ‘‘I know it’s not only dis­ap­point­ing to hear of the can­cel­la­tion of our shows, but for the plans you made to unite with us on the tour. Please know that we look for­ward to an­nounc­ing new dates as soon as pos­si­ble and ap­pre­ci­ate the warm sup­port of all our the fans in Aus­tralia and New Zealand.’’ Ticket hold­ers can ob­tain re­funds from point of pur­chase.
