Switch on to band’s funky frequency

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - WHAT’S ON -

FRESH off the back of a tour with Bernard Fanning, Sunshine Coast vibe-sharer Shannon ‘‘Sol’’ Carroll and his quartet Band of Frequencies bring their experimental, psychedelic and surf-roots flavours to the Gold Coast this weekend. Frontman and chief songwriter Carroll says the name Band of Frequencies refers to the concept that each person vibrates at a certain frequency ‘‘with the lowest being fear and hate and the highest being love and compassion’’. ‘‘Like radio and TV stations, we also broadcast our particular band of frequencies at any given moment,’’ he says. ‘‘We are just a Band of Freq’s doing our thing to raise the collective frequency through sound.’’ The progressive rockers have shared stages with the likes of Donovan Frankenreiter, John Butler, Angus Stone and Ash Grunwald. The band released Rise Like the Sun last year.

Band of Frequencies, Waxhead and Zac Gunthorpe play The Soundlounge, Currumbin, tomorrow night.
