Daniel’s poetic role
DANIEL Radcliffe thinks poetry is very fun and says he enjoyed portraying late poet Allen Ginsberg in the biographical drama Kill Your Darlings. The 24-year-old actor shares the iconic Beat writer’s love of literature. ‘‘Just talking about poetry is very fun for me,’’ says Radcliffe. ‘‘I don’t understand it as well as (Ginsberg), but I do understand poetry, it is an interest of mine. I’ve read the same books as him.’’ Radcliffe co-starred with Dane DeHaan in the film and the pair became good friends. He has the utmost respect for DeHaan and appreciates their tight relationship. ‘‘After auditioning with Dane, one of the biggest draws for me was working with him,’’ Radcliffe says. ‘‘Dane is the best friend I’ve made through acting, through the industry. He and his wife are just fantastic people. I think that building chemistry with people is just about being curious about people and meeting them.’’ Daniel and DeHaan, 27, got intimate while filming Kill Your Darlings, as their characters shared a kiss during a gay love scene. The Harry Potter star has spoken previously about what it was like to lock lips with his buddy onscreen. ‘‘We shot it so fast. We only had an hour to shoot the whole scene. Because the whole film was shot so quickly, there wasn’t any time to get nervous or worried,’’ he recalled about the clip to website entertainment.inquirer.net recently. ‘‘You just go for it! In both that scene and the sex scene I had in the movie Horns, with Juno Temple, most of the time off-camera was spent laughing. It was not particularly stressful. It was funnier more than anything else.’’
