GREAT to hear Jack Webster, star of so many major Australian touring productions, is moving to the Gold Coast. Having an entertainer of his calibre living here will help boost production values on the local scene.

TO those who saw Yours Truly on TV quiz show Millionaire Hot Seat this week . . . I may not have won a prize, but I did manage to get the message about taking kids to the theatre out to a national audience. That’s what it was all about. Managing Carmen, Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow. Highlights include Japanese drumming by TaikOz and incredible puppetry in the fantasy adventure The Harbinger. George Orwell’s 1984 and New Zealand’s first-ever Pacific musical, The Factory, also feature. The big local production will be the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice classic, Jesus Christ Superstar.

SPOTLIGHT has scheduled extra shows in its season of Phantom of the Opera – it’s fabulous to see a local show prove so successful.
