Buddy, Primus join music fests
THE 2014 Big Day Out and the 2014 Byron Bay Bluesfest have both added new acts to their line-ups. BDO has added 11 more acts including American rock band Primus and Australian bands The Drones and Bliss N Eso.
It marks a return to the festival for Primus, who played at the third ever Big Day Out. Other new acts include 360, Visto Chino (featuring John Garcia and Brant Bjork of Kyuss), Kerser, Bluejuice, CSS, Violent Soho, The Jungle Giants and All The Colours.
The Big Day Out tour opens in Auckland on January 17 before moving on to the Gold Coast on January 19 and then on to Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. They join previously announced BDO acts including Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire, Blur, Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion, Major Lazer, Flume, The Lumineers, Tame Impala, Steve Angello, Mac Miller, Mudhoney, Rufus and Cosmic Psychos.
Byron Bay Bluesfest promoter Peter Noble this week put the blues into his 25th anniversary event, at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from April 17-21, with a fourth artist announcement led by Buddy Guy and Jake Bugg.
Other artists added to the bill include Charlie Musselwhite, Booker T Jones, The James Cotton Band, Eric Bibb, Beth Hart, North Mississippi Allstars, Devon Allman, Walter Trout, Cabdye Kane Band featuring Laura Chavez and Saidah Baba Talibah, with more acts to be announced before the end of the year.
The Big Day Out plays Metricon Stadium on January 19. The Byron Bay Bluesfest plays Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm from April 17-21.
Buddy Guy, pictured at the 2012 Byron Bay Bluesfest, will return to play the festival again next year.
