EXPECT this boat to be relentlessly rocked when Ash Grunwald, Stonefield and The Vernons board a party cruise bound for Stradbroke Island this weekend. The Other Side is a full-day island rock show and party cruise starring the trio of Aussie rockers. With party cruises usually hosting a swag of DJs, The Other Side is the first of its kind to bring rock bands over to South Straddie. Byron Bay-based Ash Grunwald (pictured) says he’s looking forward to a day on the blue with sunshine, friends and goods tunes. ‘‘I’m rounding up my good mate Fingers for the beat and stealing OJ from Band of Frequencies for the bass,’’ he says. ‘‘It’s going to be a good one.’’ Grunwald is joined by four-sister rock outfit Stonefield and the Gold Coast’s own blues and rock ’n’ roll band, The Vernons.

The boat departs from Main Beach on Saturday morning.

Tickets are $79 from othersiderock
