Recital series dances to end
RENOWNED Australian pianist Timothy Young will join artistic director Stewart Kelly for the final concert of this year’s season of the Mason and Hamlin Recital Series on Sunday. The prestigious local classical music concerts are presented by The Arts Centre Gold Coast and piano specialists Mason & Hamlin Australia. Young is returning to the celebrated local classical music concert after a breathtaking sell-out show to open the series earlier this year. An extraordinarily versatile accompanist, Young is head of piano studies at the Australian National Academy of Music. He and Mason and Hamlin Recital Series artistic director Kelly, a major emerging artist in his own right, have performed together for the past three years and promise a festive program of dance music for their end-of-year concert. The program opens with the duo performing Ravel’s magical La Valse on two grand pianos. The pair will then play the timeless music of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker and the concert will come to a head with Rachmaninov’s final composition, the virtuosic Symphonic Dances.
Timothy Young and Stewart Kelly play a Mason and Hamlin Recital Series show at The Arts Centre Gold Coast on Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $28 adults, $23 seniors, $15 students. Sing along to season
