The ever-pop­u­lar Mup­pets make their re­turn to the big screen in time for the school hol­i­days and there’s plenty to tempt adults into cin­e­mas too

Pa­cific Fair, Yatala, Aus­tralia Fair, Robina, Coolan­gatta, Nerang: Based on the best­selling novel by Veron­ica Roth, Shai­lene Wood­ley stars as Tris, a teenager liv­ing in a postapoc­a­lyp­tic Chicago, who learns she is Di­ver­gent – mean­ing she doesn’t be­long to one of the five fac­tions so­ci­ety is now di­vided into, and that makes her dan­ger­ous. Ac­tion­ad­ven­ture also stars Kate Winslet, Theo James, Ash­ley Judd and Aussie Jai Court­ney, it’s di­rected by Neil Burger ( Lim­it­less).


The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast, Pa­cific Fair, Aus­tralia Fair, Robina, Coolan­gatta, Nerang: The lat­est from di­rec­tor Wes An­der­son re­counts the tale of leg­endary concierge Gus­tave H (Ralph Fi­ennes), who worked at the fa­mous Grand Bu­dapest Ho­tel with his trusted lobby boy Zero dur­ing its hey­day be­tween the two world wars, when he was framed for mur­der. Also star­ring, among oth­ers, Ja­son Schwartz­man, Adrien Brody, Jude Law, Bill Mur­ray, Saoirse Ro­nan and Tilda Swin­ton.


Pa­cific Fair, Aus­tralia Fair, Robina, Coolan­gatta: In this fol­low-up to the 2011 com­edy, the Mup­pets set off on a grand world tour with their new agent Do­minic Badguy (Ricky Ger­vais), but un­know­ingly are caught up in a jewel heist when they don’t re­alise Ker­mit the Frog has been re­placed with a das­tardly crim­i­nal looka­like. Di­rected by James Bobin, it also stars Tina Fey, Ty Bur­rell and all your favourite Mup­pets.


The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast: J. C. Chan­dor wrote and di­rected this Amer­i­can sur­vival film about a man’s bat­tle for sur­vival against the el­e­ments af­ter his sail­boat is de­stroyed at sea. Robert Red­ford is the only cast mem­ber in this grip­ping open-wa­ter thriller. Mu­si­cal score by Alex Ebert (Ed­ward Sharpe & The Mag­netic Ze­ros).
