BAD NEIGH­BOURS (MA) Aus­tralia Fair, Pa­cific Fair, Robina, Yatala Drive-In, Har­bour Town Seth Ro­gen and Aussie Rose Byrne star as new par­ents who re­alise a group of col­lege guys, led by Zac Efron’s Teddy, are mov­ing into the house next door. The sit­u­a­tion quickly de­scends into all-out over-the-fence war with plenty of grossout hu­mour. Di­rected by Ni­cholas Stoller, best known for The Mup­pets and For­get­ting Sarah Mar­shall. BELLE (PG) The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast, Pa­cific Fair In­spired by a 1779 paint­ing, this pe­riod drama stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dido El­iz­a­beth Belle, the il­le­git­i­mate mixed race daugh­ter of a Royal Navy Ad­mi­ral, who is adopted by her great-un­cle Lord Mans­field (Tom Wilkin­son) and raised as an aris­to­crat. In her late teens, she must bat­tle so­cial prej­u­dices for a chance at love, all against the back­drop of a con­tro­ver­sial slav­ery case. HEAL­ING (M) Kingscliff, The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast Don Hany of East West 101 and Off­spring fame stars as Vik­tor Kah­dem, a man serv­ing the last 12 months of his 18-year sen­tence in a low-se­cu­rity prison. It’s here that su­per­vis­ing of­fice Matt (Hugo Weav­ing) puts him in charge of a pro­gram that re­ha­bil­i­tates in­jured na­tive birds. In­spired by a true story and writ­ten and di­rected by Craig Mon­a­han. CHEF (M) Aus­tralia Fair, Coolan­gatta, Pa­cific Fair, Robina, The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast, Nerang Jon Favreau writes, di­rects and stars in this foodie film as Carl Casper, an ac­claimed chef who loses his job at a plush but cre­atively sti­fling restau­rant. With the help of his ex-wife (Sofia Ver­gara) and son (Em­jay Anthony) he de­cides to open a food truck. Cue var­i­ous shots of de­li­cious-look­ing food. Also star­ring Robert Downey Jr, Scar­lett Jo­hans­son, Dustin Hoff­man and John Leguizamo. SPE­CIALTY SCREEN­INGS TAST­ING MENU (M) Kingscliff Roger Gual di­rects this witty and de­li­cious Span­ish com­edy. As one of the world’s best restaurants opens for its fi­nal evening, a cou­ple in the midst of a di­vorce who made their reser­va­tion a year ago (be­fore sep­a­rat­ing) re­unite for a once-in-life­time meal. Stars Jan Cor­net, Clau­dia Bas­sols and Vi­centa N’Dongo. BREAK­FAST AT TIF­FANY’S (G) Robina Rom-com from di­rec­tor Blake Ed­wards.
