BAD NEIGHBOURS (MA) Australia Fair, Pacific Fair, Robina, Yatala Drive-In, Harbour Town Seth Rogen and Aussie Rose Byrne star as new parents who realise a group of college guys, led by Zac Efron’s Teddy, are moving into the house next door. The situation quickly descends into all-out over-the-fence war with plenty of grossout humour. Directed by Nicholas Stoller, best known for The Muppets and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. BELLE (PG) The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Pacific Fair Inspired by a 1779 painting, this period drama stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral, who is adopted by her great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and raised as an aristocrat. In her late teens, she must battle social prejudices for a chance at love, all against the backdrop of a controversial slavery case. HEALING (M) Kingscliff, The Arts Centre Gold Coast Don Hany of East West 101 and Offspring fame stars as Viktor Kahdem, a man serving the last 12 months of his 18-year sentence in a low-security prison. It’s here that supervising office Matt (Hugo Weaving) puts him in charge of a program that rehabilitates injured native birds. Inspired by a true story and written and directed by Craig Monahan. CHEF (M) Australia Fair, Coolangatta, Pacific Fair, Robina, The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Nerang Jon Favreau writes, directs and stars in this foodie film as Carl Casper, an acclaimed chef who loses his job at a plush but creatively stifling restaurant. With the help of his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara) and son (Emjay Anthony) he decides to open a food truck. Cue various shots of delicious-looking food. Also starring Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman and John Leguizamo. SPECIALTY SCREENINGS TASTING MENU (M) Kingscliff Roger Gual directs this witty and delicious Spanish comedy. As one of the world’s best restaurants opens for its final evening, a couple in the midst of a divorce who made their reservation a year ago (before separating) reunite for a once-in-lifetime meal. Stars Jan Cornet, Claudia Bassols and Vicenta N’Dongo. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S (G) Robina Rom-com from director Blake Edwards. Truman Capote’s novel comes to life in glorious technicolour in this bona fide Hollywood classic.
