FRANKLY IT’S TOM
The Man from Snowy River will show off his swing style with his take on the legendary Frank Sinatra in this sparkling set of tunes
Frank Sinatra’s swinging tunes of the 1960s will live long into the future through Tom Burlinson. Best known for his acting career that saw him star in The Man from Snowy River, Burlinson has been touring the country playing the music of Sinatra recently.
Celebrating 100 years since Sinatra’s birth, Burlinson is taking to the stage with a new performance of the classic live album Sinatra at the Sands.
“I’ve been singing Sinatra for a while and I wanted to come up with something to celebrate the 100 years since his birth,” says Burlinson.
“It is one of the most brilliant albums he recorded in 1966 as he sings some of his greatest songs including Come Fly with Me, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, One for my Baby and You Make Me Feel So Young.
“The other great thing is there is a mix of swing and slower songs so you really do get both sides of Sinatra.”
Burlinson will be backed by his All Star Band with several trumpets and trombones.
Admitting he doesn’t pretend to be Sinatra, Burlinson says it is about celebrating his life.
“Of course I wear a dinner suit like he did,” he says.
Tom Burlinson will perform his sounds of Sinatra at Twin Towns, Tweed Heads, on Saturday night.
