Adapted from the novel by author John Green ( The Fault in Our Stars), this coming-ofage story centres on Quentin (Nat Wolff) and his enigmatic neighbour Margo (‘‘it’’ model Cara Delevingne). After taking him on an all-night adventure, Margo suddenly disappears — leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin. The search leads Quentin and his quick-witted friends on an exhilarating adventure that is equal parts hilarious and moving.

ANT-MAN Australia Fair, Coolangatta, Robina, Nerang, Tweed City, Yatala Drive-In, Harbour Town

Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor Hank Pym off a heist to save the world. Directed by Peyton Reed and starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale and Michael Douglas.

AMY (MA) The Arts Centre Gold Coast

A superb documentary by Asif Kapadia ( Senna) about British singer-composer Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011 at 27. Kapadia has access to home movies, in addition to footage of concerts and recording sessions, and he uses voice-overs of interviews with people who knew her, a device that works well. This film demonstrates, again, the pack mentality of Britain’s paparazzi.

SPECIALITY SCREENINGS THE AUDIENCE The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Kingscliff

Helen Mirren reprises her Olivier Award-winning performance as the Queen in this UK National Theatre Live encore screening. For 60 years, the Queen has met each of her 12 prime ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. No one knows what they discuss, not even their spouses. She advises them on all matters both public and personal.
