Backed by a ninepiece band, the unmistakable voice of Jimmy Barnes will grace the Jupiters Theatre stage this weekend. Hitting the road for a Flesh and Wood acoustic tour, the Australian music legend will play songs from the Flesh and Wood album as well as some of his biggest hits and favourite songs.

Augmented by a luscious string section, this special concert will feature only acoustic instruments but will be brought to life with Jimmy’s trademark rock ‘n roll swagger.

In 1993, Jimmy Barnes gathered a few friends to help record his seventh album, Flesh and Wood, which included duets with some legendary Australian and international artists, including Diesel, Archie Roach, Ross Wilson, Tommy Emmanuel, Don Walker, Deborah Conway, The Badloves and the late, great Joe Cocker.

It was the natural course of music history for Barnes to launch a solo career when Cold Chisel called it quits, the first time, with the Last Stand tour in 1983.

His debut record, Bodyswerve, was released the following year, debuted at No.1 and featured the song he calls his mantra, No Second Prize.

Barnes laughs now at just how terrified he was about launching his solo career.

Jimmy Barnes is performing at Jupiters Hotel & Casino tomorrow night.
