Comedian Susie Youssef says audiences should expect some sketchy characters, audience interaction and an occasional dance break from her latest show.

Combining sketch and stand-up, Youssef says the show is about “wide eyes and wise guys and wise eyes”.

The Sydney comedian will bring the show, along with her fellow southern funny people, to the Gold Coast this weekend as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase.

Featuring a line-up of the funniest and freshest emerging talent, Youssef will be joined by Bart Freebairn, The Stevenson Exp, Corey White, Cameron Duggan, Mike Goldstein and John Conway.

Youssef says the show, titled Owl Eyes on You, has elements that are different each night “to keep me on my toes and the scripted parts are also so much fun to perform”.

“It’s very representative of who I am now, warts and all. Not actual warts,” she says.

Youssef says Owl Eyes on You is pitched at two kinds of people.

“People who like to laugh with/at the expense of a 30year-old woman who still likes to play pretendsies and dance around, and those who don’t mind laughing at themselves.

“It’s a sketch comedy and stand-up show about wide eyes and wise guys and wise eyes.”

Youssef says the idea came to her through speaking to her grandparents.

“The overarching theme is there is someone wiser watching you and how you deal with things,” she says.

“I like to think there are wiser eyes watching.”

Of her solo performance: “It’s really fun and really satisfying, but ... the energy really depends on me.”

“I don’t think you ever really get used to it.”

Comedian Susie Youssef’s show is ‘warts and all’.
