8.30PM, ELEVEN M. 2000. New York City police detective John Shaft, nephew of the original 1970s detective, goes on a personal mission to ensure the son of a real estate tycoon is brought to justice after a racially motivated murder. Slick crime drama that has an impressive cast and evocative soundtrack.

8.30PM, ONE NA. 2010. Letting go of life and taking a reflective look back at some of its misery is the basis upon which this film is set. Megan Fox as circus sideshow attraction Lily beautifully portrays the protector of man’s spirit. A sad but rather lovely watch.

11PM, 7FLIX MA. 2011. Completely overwhelmed by brutal violence, this film is hard to watch. A young Hollywood couple played by James Marsden and Kate Bosworth return to her small hometown after her father’s death. Old conflicts re-emerge with her ex partner, leading to a violent confrontation.

Samuel L Jackson.
