TOP GUN

9PM, 9GO! PG. 1986. Students at the US navy’s elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, and one daring young pilot (played by Tom Cruise) learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom. A classic and one of Cruise’s breakout roles that have made him the superstar he is today.

TWELVE MONKEYS

9.05PM, SBS2 R. 1995. The plot here is a bit of a jumble, but the film does boast excellent performances and mindblowing twists. All in all, 12 Monkeys a kooky, effective experience, so give it a go.

DIE HARD 2

8.30PM, ONE M. 1990. The historically unflappable John McClane this time takes on ruthless mercenaries who threaten to cause havoc in the commercial airways. This is a film that thankfully never takes itself too seriously and stars, of course, the gunstastic Bruce Willis and Bonnie Bedelia.

Kelly McGillis and Tom Cruise.
