e’s the Californian comedian with a not-so-subtle “thing” for Aussies, and he’s finishing up a mammoth tour right here on the Gold Coast.

Arj Barker wouldn’t give away much about his latest tour, Get in my Head, but did say it was his best yet.

“I think it’s sort of a look through my eyes, it’s a regular stand-up show with just lots of jokes and observations,” he says.

“People shouldn’t read too much into the title, but it’s probably my best show yet.

“I’ve been touring it for almost a year now and towards the end of a tour a show is very polished and very fun.”

Arj has made his love for Australia apparent in his previous shows, poking fun at everything from unnecessary abbreviations (Brissy, Tassie, the Goldie) to our everchanging prime ministers, but says he’s now been here so long he’s used to us.

“I’m really used to it, it’s a second home for me now. I’m so used to it things don’t strike me as odd anymore,” he says.

“There are a couple of observations in this show, but more and more Australia is just becoming normal.

“Ideally I’d prefer to have universal comedy that relates to people in general rather than a specific country.” Arj Barker performs at Twin Towns on Saturday
