MY KITCHEN RULES LEADS THE RETURN OF TV FAVOURITES

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - FRONT PAGE -

The My Kitchen Rules action is hotter than ever this season, with pre-promotions featuring a tabletop pash between members of rival teams.

But despite being from France, the romance capital of the world, judge Manu Feildel prefers to keep the passion on the plate where it belongs.

“I don’t really care to be honest with you, for me, the happiest I can be is when they cook me good food,” he says.

“It’s not a dating show for me, it’s a cooking show.

“I’m happy for them, I’m all for love, I think it’s fabulous, but on My Kitchen Rules – has it got a place – perhaps?

“But for me I’m not going to be excited about it and be like ‘Oh yeah!’.”

That’s not to say he doesn’t welcome a bit of sauciness and spice at the table, he just prefers it in his meal.

“It’s pretty much simple with me – well seasoned and plenty of sauce,” he says.

“People don’t seem to understand the use of salt and pepper to a dish.

“It enhances the flavour and it can turn an OK dish to an amazing dish.”

You’d assume the one thing the long-term judge would love is food itself, but just like the rest of us, it’s a complicated relationship.

“I’ve got a love and hate relationship with food,” he says.

“I obviously don’t like putting on weight, but I love food too much.

“Then when I put weight on that I don’t want, I do everything to get it off but it means I don’t eat the food that I love.

“So I love it because I love it but I hate it because it makes things tough.”

My Kitchen Rules season eight premiere, Monday 7.30pm, Channel 7.
