Expect love, laughter and tears – currently shining in Brisbane, popular play Constellations is heading for the Gold Coast next month
Starring Home and Away alumnus Jessica Tovey, Queensland Theatre’s Constellations opened last week and will run in Brisbane until April 9. It’s a quirky, intriguing, charming romance. Having come from sold-out seasons in New York and London, Queensland Theatre delivers another triumph that leaves audiences flabbergasted in their seats. Do not miss this intellectually driven play that is filled with laughter, tears and love. Constellations will next tour to the Arts Centre Gold Coast from April 20-21. Gold Coast Little Theatre held its orientation for the July production of Kander and Ebb’s 70 Girls 70 last week. Guests were given a breakdown of the show by director Roger McKenzie. It will have both a small orchestra and backing tracks, and will feature songs from Kander & Ebb. They are looking for an ensemble of 16 males and females and around the same number of soloists, bringing the cast to 30. The season runs July 1 to 29 with auditions at GCLT on March 25. Party organiser Doreen Hinton has announced a show at Sharks Events Centre with Julie Paris doing A Tribute Show Walking Back to Happiness on May 10. This unique show covers the careers of three talented UK artists: Helen Shapiro, Sandie Shaw and Petula Clark. Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start. Tickets are $30. Call Doreen on 0403 840 940. Melbourne’s popular Production Company has announced its 2017 program, beginning with Hello, Dolly! starring Marina Prior in May and June. This is followed by Jesus Christ Superstar in July and August, starring Rob Mills. The company’s final production will be in the State Theatre, a re-imagined production of Brigadoon featuring Nancy Hayes.
