Ex­pect love, laugh­ter and tears – cur­rently shin­ing in Bris­bane, pop­u­lar play Con­stel­la­tions is head­ing for the Gold Coast next month

Star­ring Home and Away alum­nus Jes­sica Tovey, Queens­land The­atre’s Con­stel­la­tions opened last week and will run in Bris­bane un­til April 9. It’s a quirky, in­trigu­ing, charm­ing ro­mance. Hav­ing come from sold-out sea­sons in New York and Lon­don, Queens­land The­atre de­liv­ers an­other tri­umph that leaves au­di­ences flab­ber­gasted in their seats. Do not miss this in­tel­lec­tu­ally driven play that is filled with laugh­ter, tears and love. Con­stel­la­tions will next tour to the Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast from April 20-21. Gold Coast Lit­tle The­atre held its ori­en­ta­tion for the July pro­duc­tion of Kan­der and Ebb’s 70 Girls 70 last week. Guests were given a break­down of the show by di­rec­tor Roger McKen­zie. It will have both a small orches­tra and back­ing tracks, and will fea­ture songs from Kan­der & Ebb. They are look­ing for an en­sem­ble of 16 males and fe­males and around the same num­ber of soloists, bring­ing the cast to 30. The sea­son runs July 1 to 29 with au­di­tions at GCLT on March 25. Party or­gan­iser Doreen Hin­ton has an­nounced a show at Sharks Events Cen­tre with Julie Paris do­ing A Trib­ute Show Walk­ing Back to Hap­pi­ness on May 10. This unique show cov­ers the ca­reers of three tal­ented UK artists: He­len Shapiro, Sandie Shaw and Pe­tula Clark. Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start. Tick­ets are $30. Call Doreen on 0403 840 940. Mel­bourne’s pop­u­lar Pro­duc­tion Com­pany has an­nounced its 2017 pro­gram, be­gin­ning with Hello, Dolly! star­ring Ma­rina Prior in May and June. This is fol­lowed by Je­sus Christ Su­per­star in July and Au­gust, star­ring Rob Mills. The com­pany’s fi­nal pro­duc­tion will be in the State The­atre, a re-imag­ined pro­duc­tion of Bri­gadoon fea­tur­ing Nancy Hayes.
