BLANC DE BLANC IS BRINGING SEXY BACK TO THE SPIEGELTENT

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Play Magazine - - FRONT PAGE - EMILY MACDONALD

With their love of flashing flesh and downing champagne in fabulous company, it’s no wonder the saucy international stars of Blanc de Blanc found their spiritual home on the Gold Coast.

Anything goes at Blanc de Blanc which the show’s debonair maitre’d Gregg Romeo, known to audiences as Monsieur Romeo, proved when a time zone kerfuffle saw the Bulletin accidentally call him at 2am French time for this interview.

But when your job is to wrangle cast members who have been known to cavort semi-nude and sopping wet on to the laps of delighted audience members you’re forced to adopt a show-mustgo-on attitude.

“I invite you to join my party and I try to control my cast, but sometimes it seems like it’s out of my hands,” Monsieur Romeo says.

“You have to be openminded but there’s nothing to be feared in this show.

“There is some shock factor and we do have full- frontal nudity. People cover their eyes, but we can see them peeking through.”

Monsieur Romeo has worked with the likes of Beyonce, Nelly Furtado, Kylie Minogue, Marc Anthony, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga.

He’s also appeared in movies including Dance Flick, Blades of Glory and Jackass 2 and in his spare time he moonlights in Dita Von Teese’s Strip Strip Hooray burlesque tour.

Despite his jetsetting lifestyle, the glamorous model turned performer can’t wait to head back to the Gold Coast.

“The Gold Coast is all about fun. The show is very loud and I think the Gold Coast crowd really enjoyed it as it is very complementary to your lifestyle,” he says.

“It’s very well received by all different ages. We’ve got people coming in their 20s right through to 90 plus years old. I had one 80-year-old come up to me after a show and tell me cheekily how much she loved it.” Blanc de Blanc will be showing at Broadwater Parklands from today until November 5. Tickets start at $55 and are available at tickets.blancshow.com
