PETER PAN AN ENTREE FOR TIM
The actor who wowed Gold Coast audiences with his rendition of the boy who never grows up is back with his own superb cabaret show
If you enjoyed The Arts Centre Gold Coast’s production of Peter Pan earlier this year, you’ll be delighted to hear that the actor who played the title role will return to the Gold Coast to perform his own show. Tim Maddren is booked for the Basement tomorrow and Saturday at 8.15pm. Tim’s other credits include The Rocky Horror Show, Dream Lover and The Addams Family Musical. Call 5588 4000 to book for this great cabaret show. The many friends and theatre colleagues of the late Joan Stalker-Brown will be pleased to hear that a celebration of her life will be held at Javeenbah Theatre, Stevens Street, Nerang on December 3 at 4pm. The family have requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the theatre, which was Joan’s dear passion. Dressing Roomers was delighted to hear this week of former programming manager at The Arts Centre Gold Coast, Brad Rush, who is now embracing the rich culture of Adelaide, the Festival City. He is sitting temporarily in the NTS (National Touring Selector) hot seat. With Brad’s skills, he is well on the way to a glittering career. QPAC recently held a launch for the musical Disney’s Aladdin. It contains 300 costumes, more than half-a million hand-sewn Swarovski crystals on those costumes, and a flying carpet (due to the magic of theatre). The spectacle opens at QPAC in February. About 200 groupbooking people were guests at this special evening. Three songs: Proud of Your Boy by Aladdin (Ainsley Melham from Bathurst, NSW), A Whole New World by Jasmin (Hiva Elchikhe from London, England) and Friend Like Me by the Genie (Michael James Scott from New York, USA) wowed the audience. Ballina Players’ production of Mary Poppins has completely sold its matinees out. They are putting an extra matinee on December 2 at 2pm to cater for the many disappointed audience members who would have missed the show. An error occurred in this column last week, with the date of the Finalists’ (formerly Nominees) Cocktail Party being given as December 12. The Cocktail Party is actually on December 5 at the Calypso Tce, QT Hotel, with the Presentation Night on December 12 at The Arts Centre. There are still a handful of seats to the awards night available from The Arts Centre – call 5588 4000. In rehearsal on the Gold Coast at the moment is Barmaids and Spotlight Youth Theatre’s Curtains. Currently playing is Javeenbah’s Obsession, Gold Coast Little Theatre’s Little Shop of Horrors, Ballina Players’ Mary Poppins and Tugun Theatre’s The Naked Truth. See you in a crowded foyer real soon.
