The hit Broadway show has made its glittering way from Melbourne to Brisbane’s QPAC and is sure to enchant all lovers of musical theatre
The wishes of Queensland musical theatre fans have been granted with the opening of Disney’s Aladdin at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). The hit Broadway musical flies into Brisbane following its celebrated Melbourne season, where it played to packed houses and received rave reviews. The Australian production boasts a cast of 34 and a staggering 337 glittering costumes, featuring 1225 different fabrics, 712 different styles of beads and more than 500,000 Swarovski crystals. Dressing Roomers heard this week that Footlights Theatrical will stage a season of their Palm Award-winning show Billy Buckett – a Rock ’n’ Roll Love Story at the Logan Entertainment Centre from May 16-19. Footlights is an independent local theatre group that aims to create opportunities for local artists in venues around Brisbane. The group has just been awarded an $8000 Regional Arts Development Fund grant to assist it in staging its Logangrown show, with the same director at the helm as the first premiere season in 2013. Tickets are available now at Logan Entertainment Centre. Vocalescence ladies choir is celebrating its multicultural chorus with a British high tea and fashion show. It will be held on March 3 at Helensvale Cultural Centre in the auditorium from 4-6pm, with a glass of bubbles, treats and a Currently playing is GCLT’s Barmaids, Spotlight Theatre’s Oliver!, N.A.P.A’s Rock of Ages, Tugun Theatre’s Old Actors Never Die and Phoenix Ensemble’s Xanadu.
