Nom­i­nees for the schools and youth stream of the Gold Palm The­atre Awards will soon be an­nounced as plan­ning for the event ramps up

The Gold Palm The­atre Awards are in deep plan­ning mode for the end-of-year pre­sen­ta­tion night, with the nom­i­nees for the schools and youth stream soon to be an­nounced. This is to fit in with stu­dents’ de­sires to in­clude any nom­i­na­tions in end-of-year re­ports. Ge­nial host Ian Sten­lake will re­turn as com­pere this year, hav­ing com­pleted his run in Mamma Mia! in Ade­laide in late No­vem­ber. While the the­atres on the Gold Coast are quiet, Tyal­gum will host the Dance Spec­tac­u­lar on No­vem­ber 10. Com­plet­ing the line-up for this year’s Dance Spec­tac­u­lar are Mel­bourne pro­fes­sional Latin cham­pi­ons Jar­ryd Byrne and Alarna Dono­van. Jar­ryd has com­peted in three sea­sons of Danc­ing With The Stars, be­com­ing a grand fi­nal­ist in two. Jar­ryd also toured in­ter­na­tion­ally with Burn The Floor and per­formed in the na­tional tour of Baz Luhrmann’s Strictly Ball­room the Mu­si­cal. His part­ner Alarna Dono­van is a four-time Aus­tralian cham­pion and win­ner of the pres­ti­gious Black­pool Ris­ing Star Cham­pi­onships. A new part­ner­ship, Jar­ryd and Alarna re­cently tri­umphed at the WDC Ball­room Danc­ing Cham­pi­onships in Syd­ney, win­ning the Pro­fes­sional Latin ti­tle ear­lier this month. As pre­vi­ously an­nounced, the Beau­ti­ful Ball­room seg­ment of this year’s show will be pre­sented by An­drew Nolo and Sar­lote Jakse from Mel­bourne, along­side the fab­u­lous Rhett and Emma Salmon for the New Vogue seg­ment. Hosted by Danc­ing With The Stars’ Mark Wil­son, this event is set to be the very best yet, so don’t miss out. Make sure to en­joy the pre-show din­ner at Flut­ter­bies Cafe from 6pm. Doors open at the hall at 7.30pm for an 8pm start (NSW time). Din­ner and show pack­ages are $95, show only Javeen­bah The­atre is in re­hearsal for A Kick in the Baubles, as is GCLT for Hello, Dolly!, Tu­gun The­atre’s Pins and Nee­dles and Spot­light’s We Will Rock You. On stage is Spot­light The­atre’s mu­si­cal pro­duc­tion The Won­derettes. See you in a crowded foyer.
