Runaway horse slices through car

-

A MAN is lucky to be alive after a runaway horse smashed into the roof of a car.

According to the man’s wife, the horse tore open the roof “like a can opener” on Beaudesert-Nerang Rd on Wednesday night.

Paramedics treated a man in his 50s and took him to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

“A runaway horse flew into his roof, opening it like a can opener,” the man’s wife posted on social media.

“The only place in the cabin that was not crushed was the area he was sitting after he had been pushed to the right.”

She said a witness pulled the father of three out of the car through a window.

It was initially feared he had suffered a collapsed lung but he was later released, she said.

She later posted the horse that was involved had died.

“Very sad for the horse and it’s owner,” she said.
