TAKING A BITE OUT OF TICKET COST

AS supervisor of the Reptile Department, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary keeper Michael Vella has to handle many lively characters.

But this one-year-old baby American alligator, which will soon make its public debut, is not among them.

Mr Vella said the alligators are more social and calmer around people than Australian crocodiles and take well to human interactio­n.
