Xenophon supertax bid

KEY crossbench senator Nick Xenophon is promising to redouble efforts to introduce a supertax on tech giants Facebook and Google.

Senator Xenophon says the internet behemoths steal content and sap billions of dollars from traditional media companies. “I renew my calls for Facebook and Google to pay an additional tax, particularly for the copyright content they use from media companies. I’ve been advocating for a supertax with a significant proportion going back to media companies, which are bleeding.”
