front of him. “If I had my choice of rides, Russian Revolution would be the one I would want to be riding,” Bowman said.

“Without even knowing the full field, he’s the right type of horse for the race he’s taking on.”

Co-trainer Paul Snowden said Russian Revolution was “going extra well” and they would “love to draw a barrier” to strengthen his credentials.

But Snowden warned punters not to discount stablemate Redzel.

The last-start Randwick winner is also nominated for the Group 1 Darley Goodwood (1200m) in Adelaide but Snowden said the stable was leaning towards a start in the 1200m Doomben race.

“He was only narrowly beaten by Russian Revolution in The Galaxy and I think his form is just as good, so there’s not a lot between them,” he said.

Team Snowden kicked off their winter carnival with Taking Aim winning the Ken Russell Memorial Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

They intend to have a team of about 20 horses stabled with Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm’s new infield stables during the carnival.

Usually, the Snowdens stay on the Coast but they have made a deliberate ploy to be in Brisbane this year.

“The idea is to try to get our horses familiarised with the Eagle Farm course proper,” Snowden said.

“It may help, it may not, but that’s the idea for us.”

Start Wondering, a dual Group 1 winner in New Zealand this year, arrived in Queensland last week and will take his place in the 10,000 with regular rider Johnathon Parkes.

Jeff Lloyd retains the 10,000 ride on Music Magnate, while Robbie Fradd has picked up the mount on multiple Group 1 winner Rebel Dane for Gary Portelli.
