Baker wants to make different dough by suing former boss

- ALEXANDRIA UTTING

A BAKER is suing his former employer for almost $200,000 after allegedly being crushed by a bread mixer. Blake Harry Garbett, 22, of Bilambil Heights, said he had not worked since injurying his spine and left shoulder after being “pulled to the ground” while moving a large mixer at the factory of the bakery formally known as The Authentic Turkish Bakehouse, at Burleigh Heads, in April 2015.

In a statement of claim lodged against the trustee for the Authentic Turkish Bakehouse, Mr Garbett alleges he has developed codeine dependence and a pre-existing major depressive disorder was aggravated. He is seeking $182,044.51 in damages.

ASIC records show an application was made to wind up the Authentic Turkish Bakehouse in November 2012.

The owners for the store now in the same location in Burleigh Heads are not the subject of any legal action.

A defence has not been lodged by the trustee for the Authentic Turkish Bakehouse.
