Thurston’s injury remains a mystery

cial but he would consider the Test half for the Sharks game if he recovered from his shoulder complaint suffered in the recent trans-Tasman clash.

“That’s the main reason he is travelling,” the Cowboys coach said of Thurston’s TV ad. “(But) he is improving. Whether or not he improves enough, we will wait and see.”

Thurston suffered the injury three weeks ago and was expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks, putting him at risk of missing Queensland’s State of Origin opener.

Green refused to put a time frame on Thurston’s return.

“I was always pretty vague about a time frame, if you remember, and for a reason,” he said. “It could be minimum of three weeks or maximum of six or anywhere in between.”

Thurston has not trained with the main group since the injury but is a chance of running out today at training.

Asked what Thurston has to do to be fit, Green said: “He has to get his strength back in his shoulder.”
