Muir may motor back

FORMER Victorian senator Ricky Muir is considering running for state politics.

Mr Muir has announced he has quit the Australian Motoring Enthusiasts Party which took him to the Senate.

“This move does not signal the end of politics for me – for now my family business is my focus,” he said. “But perhaps new political beginnings could be on the cards.

“I have watched with apprehension as my home electorate of Gippsland has been subject to political football, particularly at a state level, and feel Gippsland deserves better.

“I may be left with no other option but to stand up for my fellow Gippslanders if the majors won’t. Time will tell.”

Mr Muir lost his seat at the 2016 election.
