THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE GOLD COAST
THE Ardent Leisure announcement about expanding activity around Dreamworld is good news for the Gold Coast.
Ardent is committed to continuing to invest in Dreamworld and is looking at options for the land adjacent to it.
Theme parks are part of this city’s DNA. They are one of the key reasons why millions of people visit the Gold Coast every year – and have done so for decades.
The latest news is a precursor to what we hope will be a substantial investment. And that follows ongoing development and growth of the city’s theme parks over the years.
Recently, we have seen the opening of the Lego Store at Dreamworld and millions invested in their Tiger Island experience.
Concurrently, Village Roadshow is developing its $35m TopGolf attraction at Movie World and a new roller coaster is under construction.
These are major businesses on the Coast and significant drivers of visitation, from the southeast Queensland market, interstate and internationally.
Everybody knows about the Gold Coast’s theme parks and they will always be part of our tourism equation, so it is encouraging to see both Ardent and Village Roadshow creating new momentum.
The Gold Coast must offer broader and new experiences to the modern traveller, because they expect so much more from us now.
But the foundation of theme parks and beaches is here to stay.
