Driver ‘five times limit’

A WOMAN found munching on “a tray of hot chips” after crashing into a Broadbeach seafood shop on Good Friday this year has been charged.

The 50-year-old woman allegedly blew more than five times the legal limit.

On April 14, the woman allegedly drove into Seafoods on Rio Vista Boulevard, causing extensive damage to the shop and smashing through the front glass door.

Four staff members and two customers were in the store, but no one was injured.

The woman has been charged with one count each of driving under the influence of liquor and driving of vehicle without a driver’s licence. She will appear in Southport Magistrate­s Court on June 5.

Police are continuing to investigat­e.
