Experts to remove body from drain

-

SPECIALIST officers will be used to remove a dead body from a drain in Gladstone this morning, after being flown in from Brisbane last night.

A foul stench led to the discovery of the corpse yesterday morning. Detectives called on the scientific officers when council engineers were unable to remove the body from the drain, between an industrial area and a soccer field.

The person’s identity, gender, age and cause of death are all unknown.

It is believed the body has been in the drain for at least a week. Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said yesterday that a method for removing the corpse was yet to be finalised.

“We have a few scenarios in mind, but we’ll have to wait until (the specialist officers) are on the ground,” he said.
