Eels praise new halfback saviour

- CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI

MITCHELL Moses is being labelled by some of his Parramatta teammates as the player to “take the Eels to another level’’.

A similar thing was said about Kieran Foran, the man who lasted just half a season into a lucrative four-year deal, and is expected to be booed by the Eels faithful when he runs out for the Warriors on Friday night.

Moses has left quite a mark since arriving at Parramatta earlier this month after a release by the Wests Tigers.

The 22-year-old felt “clear’’ and “focused’’ and is sure halfback – not fiveeighth – is his best spot.

Moses, however, was in no mood yesterday to discuss the Tigers and the reason he so desperately needed to quit.

“That’s for me to know — I won’t speak about the Tigers at all,’’ Moses said, speaking for the first time on the matter. “They’re worrying about their own stuff, I’m worrying about Parramatta.

“I’ve got no comment on what the Tigers are doing or what’s happened.

“I feel really clear at the moment and focused on what Parramatta are doing and what they’re about.

“The massive focus is to play semis – that’s our goal.

“I was trying to play the best I could at the Tigers, but that’s all done now, and all my focus is on Parramatta.’’

Meanwhile, forward Elijah Taylor says Tuimoala Lolohea’s style makes him the perfect replacement for Moses at the Tigers.

Lolohea will wear No.6 to take on the Dragons on Saturday, less than a week after moving from the Warriors.

“There are a lot of similarities,” Taylor said of Moses and Lolohea. “They play what they see.”
